it is easy to lose sight of life after your
final final exam. Now is the time to begin
thinking about your career after graduation,
when being at the “right place at the
right time” usually means knowing the “right
person with the right opportunity.” Will

The San Diego County Bar Association
is the major intersection for the county’s
top lawyers and judges, as well as leaders
from across the state and nation. Work on committees,
section membership and attendance at Bar events
are all effective ways of meeting mentors,
future employers and friends

Sections
Explore potential practice areas and meet legal professionals
(maybe even a mentor) through one of the Bar’s
25 substantive law
sections. Law student membership includes up to
three sections.
Legal
Education
Another way to familiarize yourself with areas of practice
and make professional contacts is attendance at one of
the Bar’s more than 200 legal
education programs each year. Law student members have
access to SDCBA produced, non-meal continuing legal education
programs free of charge.
Publications
The monthly Bar Report (available online) is your
link to the news and events of San Diego’s dynamic
legal community. The Bar Report includes the latest
calendar listings, announcements, CLE programming and special
event notices. A law student report is the newest Bar
Report feature. The bimonthly San Diego Lawyer is
the legal community's premier source for insight, information
and entertainment. Law student members are subscribed to
both publications.

With a membership of more than 10,000 lawyers, judges and
law students, active participation in the Bar is the perfect
way to bridge your legal education and your career in the
legal community. Special networking events are organized
on a regular basis to help you move from prep to practice.
